In 'Crow' he has created something wild, a cinematic monster unlike anything else.” Dylan understands how this story is just as much about domesticity, awkward humour, the silly, fun, and strange routines of raising children, as it is about inexplicable rage and pain. But the experience of reading Dylan Southern’s adaptation rekindled the cinematic memory of reading this most visceral tale of a family consumed by grief.”Īuthor Porter also sang praises of Southern’s adaptation, “I love Dylan Southern’s adaptation of Grief is the Thing With Feathers. ![]() ![]() Hey, I wouldn't have blamed the guy, because Tom Hanks dramas make money, as opposed to this film, which made very little money, and really, I must say that I am surprised about that. ![]() ![]() If Hanks didn't get sick of Sinise by "The Green Mile", I'm betting Sinise would have ended up covering his face in fuzz, brown paint and asking Robert Zemeckis to CG out his body so that he could be Wilson in "Cast Away". Clearly, once he did "Forrest Gump", he realized that it wasn't the mentally ill that was getting butts in seats, but Tom Hanks, which would explain why Sinsie just had to have himself crowbarred into every post-"Forrest Gump" Tom Hanks drama in the '90s. Man, in the '90s, Gary Sinise just couldn't get away from the mentally handicapped, though I doubt he wanted to, because films about the mentally ill are about the only films people remember Gary Sinise being in, because he knew that the lovably inept made for great box office bait. ![]() ![]() ![]() He went through a terrible break-up in college followed by an extensive self-destructive partying period which the paparazzi LOVED. I have these groups of memories of particular books and then a dry spell. I found that my love of reading would reappear periodically and I would dive into books and series with great fervour only for it to be quashed later on usually due to school enforced reading. Like most, however, school put me off of reading, I was chastised for reading ahead or not reading the “right books” so my reading slowed. My Dad prefers the classics and would tell his own versions of 1001 Arabian nights and Homer’s Odyssey acting scenes out with our playmobile figures. My mum would read my sister and I books from all different authors such as Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Dick King Smith’s Sheep Pig. I was very lucky to have parents that valued stories and would set aside time to read to us. Like most reading started with my parents reading me bedtime stories. Its basically an excuse to get a bit nostalgic and read some old favourites. I wanted to revisit the various books on my ‘reading journey’, discuss my memories of them, why I think they spoke to me at that specific time of my life and then re-read them and give you my thoughts.
